Professor Wang Zhao Hui, originally from Harbin, was born in July 1922. He commenced his teaching career in the Russian Language Section of the Department of Oriental Languages and Literatures in August 1958, where he served as both a professor and the department chair. In 1992, he transitioned to the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, retiring in 2001 after 43 years of dedicated service to the university, during which he cultivated numerous talents in the Russian language.

Beyond his teaching of Russian language courses, Prof. Wang was genuinely concerned about the daily lives of his students and devoted his life entirely to education. He was committed to nurturing Russian language professionals and showed great care for his students, maintaining an in-depth understanding of the development of alumni from the Department. In 1982, when Nobel laureate Alexander Solzhenitsyn visited Taiwan, Prof. Wang was invited to serve as the translator for Solzhenitsyn's speech titled "To Free China," which was subsequently included in the high school Chinese language curriculum, marking it as a significant document for the study of Taiwan's modern social development.

In recognition of Prof. Wang's outstanding contributions to the Department and society, the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures has established the "Wang Zhao Hui Scholarship."
