Academic Exchanges

In 2008, the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature at National Chengchi University (NCCU) became a member of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (МАПРЯЛ). It later joined the Slavic Linguistic Society (SLS) and the American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages (AATSEEL). Through this association, the Department has gained greater opportunities for international exchange and advancement in academic research.

To create an internationalized learning and research environment, NCCU actively seeks to expand and cultivate partnerships with esteemed higher education institutions worldwide, formalizing these connections through international cooperation agreements/MOUs. The Department is also committed to facilitating academic exchanges with Slavic-speaking countries and former Soviet nations. Currently, more than 30 partner academic departments and institutions are connected to the Department‘s research areas.

To enhance the international perspectives and foreign language proficiency of faculty and students, and to align academic development with the pace of globalization, the Department is proactively collaborating with domestic and international universities and research institutions to implement faculty exchange programs, as outlined below:

Study Abroad

The Department strongly encourages students to participate in international academic programs. Well before NCCU’s internationalization initiatives, the Department had already established summer study tours and supported students in pursuing semester- or year-long studies in Slavic-speaking countries. Numerous scholarships and financial aid programs are available to students. In recent years, the Department has expanded its network of partner countries, regions, and institutions. Please visit the Office of International Cooperation (OIC) website for a complete list of partner universities.

Since 1995, the Ministry of Education, along with the governments of Russia, the Czech Republic, and Poland, have provided scholarships for students and graduates of the Department for study abroad and exchange programs. These scholarships offer invaluable opportunities for students to advance their language proficiency, facilitate adjustment to life aboard, support effective academic planning, and ultimately optimize their learning outcomes.

Additionally, with support from the Office of International Cooperation (OIC), the Department organizes short-term overseas courses such as “Czech Language and Culture” or “Polish Language and Culture” during the summer, providing students with opportunities for international study. Furthermore, students are encouraged to participate in overseas workshops, service-learning programs, and other activities to broaden their global perspectives.
