Dr. Yungtai Hsu graduated from the Russian Language Section of the Department of Oriental Languages and Literatures at National Chengchi University (NCCU) in 1970. He later pursued further studies at the University of Oxford, where he earned a Master’s degree in International Relations and a Ph.D. in Economic History. He is the author of several notable publications, including Remembering Oxford, Close Encounter With Britain: Thoughts From An Oxford-Educated Chinese, The Jews and the World, and The Jews and the Financial World. In 2014, his work was selected as a recommended reading for primary and secondary school students by the Ministry of Culture.
Currently, he serves as the President of Pacific Best Inc., which comprises multiple companies with business operations across Europe, Asia, and America. Additionally, he is a board member of the Development Committee at St. John's College, University of Oxford, and the founder and honorary chairman of the LA Open Table Tennis Tournament (LA Open TT).
In gratitude to society, Dr. Hsu has generously donated to establish this scholarship, aimed at inspiring future generations and cultivating talent. It is his hope that the recipients will take advantage of this opportunity to broaden their horizons and stimulate creativity, thereby laying a foundation for future employment or entrepreneurship. Furthermore, he encourages recipients to remember the original motivation for learning the Russian language.
